SCHEDULE - Dogs set to take on state's best in 2017-18
9/13/2017

The 2017-18 season is rapidly approaching and the Bulldogs varsity schedule is now finalized, with a slate of events that is as tough as ever.  The Varsity squad, which is ranked #7 in MichiganGrappler.com's preseason Division 1 Rankings, could square off with as many as 7 of the other 9 Top 10 teams in Division 1 ahead on the season schedule.

The Dogs will open with a Friday night home opener on December 8th in the Dog Pound where Ohio power Northmont will once again make the trip north to battle the Dogs on opening night.  The BHS pep band and the BHS Varsity Cheer team will be in the house to make for a high intensity opening night dual.  Last year the Bolts knocked Brighton off 38-33 on opening night.

The home crowd will get more action in the Dog Pound than ever in Coach Tony Greathouse's 5 year tenure as Head Coach as the Dogs will host 4 more home events, including single duals against Hartland (#4 in D1) and Sparta (#10 in D2).  The 12th annual Manning Vieau Memorial Duals will take place on December 16th with a fleet of state powers once again coming including top 10 D2 teams Dewitt and Tecumseh.

Brighton Nation will host BHS Wrestling Alumni Night on Wednesday, December 20th as the Dogs will host Linden and Clarkston.

The Bulldogs will once again get the opportunity to compete on the Big Ten stage, wrestling #3 Macomb Dakota on Friday, January 12th in Michigan State University's Jenison Fieldhouse before the Spartans Big Ten battle with returning NCAA Champions Penn State.

Other notable single duals include a showdown with returning state champs and #1 ranked Detroit Catholic Central on Friday December 22nd and a road trip to wrestle returning D1 State Quarterfinalists Grandville on January 3rd.

A pair of big away Dual Meet tournaments are on the dockett with a trip to returning D2 State Runners-Up Warren Woods Tower for the Tower Duals on December 9 and the Lowell Duals, hosted by reigning 4x D2 State Champs Lowell, on January 20.

The Dogs will also get an individual test at the DCC Invite on January 6th, traditionally the toughest individual regular season tournament in the state.

The post-season kicks off February 3rd with the KLAA Championships, and Team and Individual Districts the following week.
