The Michigan Youth Wrestling Association (MYWAY) State Tournament was held last weekend with over 2,900 youth wrestlers from across the state of Michigan competing at The Lansing Center in Downtown Lansing.
9 BWC wrestlers competed at the state championships, with 8th graders Zach Johnson and Josh Greathouse bringing home all-state honors.
Johnson was 4th in the 122lb weight class for his age, going 5-2 on the weekend to earn his 2nd consecutive top 4 finish at the MYWAY State Tournament.
Greathouse finished 6th at 130lbs in his age division to earn all-state honors in his first ever time wrestling in the MYWAY State Tournament.
Carson Plum (95lbs), Justin Miller (114lbs), Randy Wheeler (114lbs), & Matthew Copple (138lbs) were the other 8th graders who competed at the MYWAY State Tournament.
Brighton 7th grader Nathan Browne also earned all-state status, finishing 3rd at 85lbs in his age division competing for the Team Donahoe club out of Flint.
Xander Courneya, Conrad Eberly, and Jackson Johnson rounded out the elementary BWC wrestlers who competed at the MYWAY States, and while falling short of placing, all three won at least one match on the weekend.
